JSO and HCA Florida Memorial Hospital to Host "National Prescription Drug Take Back" Event on Saturday, October 29

On Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in conjunction with both HCA Florida Memorial Hospital and HCA Florida Park West Emergency will participate in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day event in Jacksonville, Florida.
The community drop locations will be at both HCA Florida Memorial Hospital located at 3625 University Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32216 and HCA Florida Park West Emergency located at 6477 103rd Street, Jacksonville, FL 32210.
The purpose of this event is to provide a safe, convenient and responsible way to dispose of prescription drugs, while also educating the public. The event is free and anonymous.
Citizens can turn in prescription drugs, schedule II-V controlled substances and non-controlled drugs, at the event for proper disposal. Items that will not be accepted include illegal (schedule I) drugs, needles/syringes/sharps containers, medical devices/batteries, aerosol cans/inhalers, chemicals, mercury-containing devices, radioactive drugs, and liquid chemotherapy drugs.
Those that are unable to attend the October 29th event can drop off unused prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications at the public entrance of police headquarters off of Forsyth Street in downtown Jacksonville. The drop box is accessible 8 a.m. - 10 p.m., seven days a week.
