Police commanders spent Thursday evening meeting with the citizen volunteers who lead Jacksonville’s watch programs throughout the city, discussing crime and public safety in their neighborhoods.
Currently there are more than 650 active neighborhood watch groups, which are a part of the Sheriff’s Watch community engagement program. Each watch group is required to meet in the neighborhood at least once a year. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office brings all the coordinators together once a year to get updates from the Sheriff and his staff, and discuss their concerns.
