On Saturday, August 3, 2019, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office along with the Zone 3 Sheriff's Watch Advisors will host a Safety Fair at The Avenues located at 10300 Southside Boulevard.
The free event will take place from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Local law enforcement, health and public safety agencies will have a wide variety of exhibits, displays and interactive demonstrations setup at the Safety Fair.
In addition to learning about the various areas of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and seeing JSO vehicles used in the field, citizens will have the opportunity to turn in their unused or outdated medications to JSO detectives for proper disposal. Citizens that are unable to drop off medications at the Safety Fair can bring them to the
collection box at the Forsyth Street entrance of the Police Memorial Building (501 E. Bay Street), 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Some additional highlights for the event include:
- Electronic Fingerprints for Kids;
- Meet with JSO Recruiters regarding job opportunities at the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office;
- Learn about Back to School Safety Tips, Crime Prevention, Emergency Planning and much more;
- and see police cars and motorcycles, SWAT vehicles, and helicopters
