Every April, National Crime Victims’ Rights Week provides an opportunity to raise awareness about services and programs that are in place to not only protect victims, but to also help them and those they leave behind.
This week is also a reminder that we must work together to support victims throughout their interactions with the criminal justice system.
While this year’s awareness week is not marked by a formal news conference, know that the men and women of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate these crimes and provide support to victims and their families.
Victims are encouraged to report the crime, so law enforcement can get the suspect(s) off the streets before others are victimized. Additionally, this gives law enforcement the opportunity to help connect victims with the services and programs they need following a crime.
