The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) along with our local, state, and federal partners is actively monitoring the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) situation and is taking appropriate precautions.
As a public service agency, we have an obligation to ensure best practices are followed in protecting the public from any perceived risk.
In light of the State of Emergency issued in response to COVID-19 in Florida, the JSO is suspending all inmate visitation effective 10:00 p.m. Friday night March 13, 2020. Beginning Monday March 16, 2020, video visitation will be implemented to allow remote inmate visitation. Persons who want to visit an inmate will need to create an account through www.gettingout.com. Video visitation times will vary by facility. Legal visits will not be impacted.
The JSO Department of Corrections (DOC) has no known or suspected cases of COVID-19 in any JSO DOC facility at this time. The suspension of in-facility visitation is a precautionary measure taken to minimize potential risk to the facility’s occupants.
The decision to reinstate the normal visitation schedule will be evaluated in consultation with our medical professionals to include the Department of Health.
