JSO and Memorial Hospital to Host "National Prescription Drug Take Back Day" Event on Saturday, October 23rd
On Saturday, October 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in conjunction with Memorial Hospital will participate in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day event in Jacksonville, Florida.
The community drop location will be at Memorial Hospital* located at
3625 University Boulevard South, Jacksonville, FL 32216.
The purpose of this event is to provide a safe, convenient and responsible way to dispose of prescription drugs, while also educating the public. The event is free and anonymous.
Citizens can turn in over-the-counter drugs, prescription drugs, schedule II-V controlled substances and non-controlled drugs, at the event for proper disposal. Items that will not be accepted include illegal (schedule I) drugs, needles/syringes/sharps containers, medical devices/batteries, aerosol cans/inhalers, chemicals, mercury-containing devices, radioactive drugs, and liquid chemotherapy drugs.
Those that are unable to attend the October 23rd event can drop off unused prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications at the public entrance of
police headquarters off of Forsyth Street in downtown Jacksonville. The drop box is accessible 8 a.m. - 10 p.m., seven days a week.
*It is recommended to use the University Boulevard South entrance and follow the signage that will be in place for the event.
