School Crossing Guards Needed as Back to School Preparations are Underway
July 12, 2022
In Jacksonville, School Crossing Guards are employed by the Sheriff's Office and are assigned to roadways near elementary schools throughout the city to assist children in traveling to and from school safely.
At this time, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is seeking more than 55 individuals to fill vacancies in this type of capacity.

School Crossing Guards are part-time employees, who work one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon for a maximum of 10 hours a week and receive $11.07 an hour. It is preferred that the applicant's home address be in a reasonable proximity to the location of the position, to avoid excessive and costly travel time.

Once selected, applicants must pass a background check and drug screening, and complete training. They must also pass an exam following training.
