The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Police Explorer Post 948 were invited to compete in the Annual Florida Sheriff's Explorer Association's State Competition at the end of June 2022 in Palm Beach County, Florida.
At the event, the Explorers competed in a pistol competition along with 11 police scenarios.
JSO's Explorer team placed in the following:
- 1st Place - Felony Traffic - High Risk
- 2nd Place - Crisis Intervention
- 3rd Place - Officer Down
- 3rd Place - Domestic Violence
- 3rd Place - Unknown Traffic Stops
- 3rd Place - Force on Force
- 3rd Place - Pistol 9mm
Four JSO Explorers received college scholarships at the annual event. Additionally, Explorer Aubrey Burford earned the "Explorer of the Year" award and the "Explorer of the Year Leadership" award.
The Police Explorer program is part of the statewide curriculum for the Florida Sheriffs Association and helps educate and involve youth in police operations and further develops their interest in the law enforcement profession. For information about enrollment, please visit the
