JSO Awarded Grant to Continue Hosting Motorcycle Training Classes for Citizens
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announces a grant of $45,000 from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to host Safe Motorcycle and Rider Techniques (S.M.A.R.T) classes to Jacksonville citizens
in an effort to lower the number of motorcycle-related fatalities and crashes in our state.
Several classes will be taught by JSO Motorcycle Officers throughout the first and second quarter of 2025. This type of training is designed “to help students demonstrate safe motorcycle riding techniques by negotiating commonly found street riding situations in a controlled and skill-oriented manner."
