As part of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office annual reaccreditation process, The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®) will host a public comment portal starting today, May 1st through Sunday, June 30, 2024.
The purpose of the portal is “to receive comments regarding an agency’s compliance with CALEA
® standards, engagement in the service community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status.” All the information captured on CALEA’s website, will be provided to Sheriff Waters and his team to review in an effort to “support continuous improvement, as well as foster the pursuit of professional excellence.”
CALEA® will only acknowledge your submission and “the information will be considered in context to its relevancy to compliance with standards and the tenets of CALEA® Accreditation.”
It is important to note that CALEA
® is not an investigative body and the public portal should not be used to submit information for such purposes. Crime Tips, Traffic Complaints and Abandoned / Junk Vehicle information can be submitted to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office for follow-up by visiting
the “Crime Tips” page on this website.
The Public Comment Portal is now closed. (updated Monday, July 1, 2024)
