In this month’s "Cold Case Spotlight", Detective Harmoni Brooks delves into the details of a case that occurred nearly 20 years ago.
A passer-by located a deceased body near the 1300 block of Ribault Scenic Drive at around noon on Thursday, June 23, 2005. The victim was found along the shoreline amidst some rocks on the Ribault River. Upon being recovered, the victim was found with numerous wounds, and the Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death a Homicide by way of blunt force trauma. The victim was identified as 28-year-old Andre Johnson.
At the time of his discovery, Johnson had not been seen by family members for about a week. Detectives worked for several years in an effort to identify a potential suspect in this murder, however, every lead was exhausted, and tips slowed to none. As such, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is again opening this case up and asking for assistance from the community.
