JSO Connects with Students Through the JA Inspire Virtual Career Exploration Program
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is proud to be a part of Junior Achievement of North Florida’s JA Inspire Virtual Career Exploration Program. This is just another way JSO is connecting with youth in our community.
This program launched earlier this month to more than 7,000 eighth-grade students in Duval County Public Schools. The goal is to introduce students to career opportunities in Northeast Florida and introduce them to education paths for those fields.
Once logged into the program Sheriff Mike Williams welcomes students through an introductory video in the auditorium. Then students are provided with an opportunity to visit JSO’s two booths in the exhibition halls. One booth introduces students to JSO’s programs geared toward teens including the
Teen Police Academy,
Police Explorers, the
Teen Driver Challenge and
Women’s Basic Self Defense class. The
career focused booth provides students with information about opportunities available at the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office when they graduate from high school. These career opportunities include:
Corrections and civilian roles such as
Community Service Officer and
Police Emergency Communications Officer. Additionally, the booth provides details about the Tuition Reimbursement Program offered through the City of Jacksonville.
