Memorial services have been scheduled for Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Corrections Officer Bradford "Brad" McNew.
There will be a public viewing the evening of Monday, October 21 between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin located at 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223, with a vigil and rosary beginning at 6 p.m.
Officer McNew’s memorial mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Old St. Augustine Road in Jacksonville. This will be followed by a procession to Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Cemetery, where there will be a 21-gun salute, a flyover, and other tributes.
Officer McNew’s family is deeply appreciative of the overwhelming community support during this tragic time. The public is welcome to attend all of the listed services.

Officer McNew, a 24-year veteran, leaves behind his wife, Elda, son, Liam, and was very active with his parishes’ choirs, St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville Beach, and St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church in Jacksonville. He also devoted much of his time when off-duty to working with the Fletcher High School Marching Band.

On Monday, October 14, 2024, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office honored fallen Corrections Officer Brad McNew with a dignified transport. McNew was a beloved member of the JSO family who lost his life while trying to save someone else’s.

The body of JSO Corrections Officer Bradford "Brad" McNew will be transferred from the Duval County Medical Examiner's Office on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 10 a.m. The destination is Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, located at 517 Park Street.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department, and other partners will be paying their respects at this time.
The procession will pass by UF Health Hospital and travel through the Springfield and Riverside neighborhoods. The route will be as follows:
- Jefferson Street to 11th Street
- 11th Street to Boulevard Street
- Boulevard Street to 8th Street
- 8th Street back to Jefferson Street
- Jefferson Street, which continues as Riverside Avenue towards Edison Avenue
The public is welcome to be a part of this dignified transfer. Those wishing to pay their respects are asked to please line up along the designated areas of the roadway indicated. Please do not block the travel lanes, stand on the sidewalk, and listen to emergency officials.
