Saturday, April 22nd, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in conjunction with UF Health North will participate in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day event in Jacksonville, Florida. One of two community drop locations will be at UF Health North located at
15255 Max Leggett Parkway, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
The purpose of this event is to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of prescription drugs, while also educating the public. The event is free and anonymous.
Citizens can turn in prescription drugs, schedule II-V controlled substances and non-controlled drugs, at the event for proper disposal. Items that will not be accepted include illegal (schedule I) drugs, needles/syringes/sharps containers, medical devices/batteries, aerosol cans/inhalers, chemicals, mercury-containing devices, radioactive drugs, and liquid chemotherapy drugs.
Those that are unable to attend the April 22nd event can drop off unused prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications at the public entrance of
police headquarters off of Forsyth Street in downtown Jacksonville. The drop box is accessible 8 a.m. - 10 p.m., seven days a week.
